Kira Kōzuke-no-Suke Yoshihisa |
Kira Yoshinaka was“a court official”of the Tokugawa shogunate in Tokyo, whose title was Kōzuke no Suke. Kira Yoshinaka was the highest-ranking koke and head of ceremonial matters at the Shogunate. He instructed officials in the manner of hosting noble guests from Kyoto. A koke was a noble ranking below a daimyo during the Edo period. A koke lands were assessed at less than 10,000- koku, making them ineligible for the ran of daimyo. Probably important to note that in 1701, the Tokugawa Shogunate had all the military and administrative power of the government, which moved to Edo (present day Tokyo) in 1603. During this time Emperor would be a figure head until the "Meiji Restoration" in 1886, when power was restore to the emperor - whom afterward renames him and his family Meiji. |

Asano Takumi-no-Kami Naganori |
Asano Naganori was the daimyo of the Akō Domain, a 50,000-koku fief approximately 80 kilometers east of modern day Kobe. His title was Takumi no Kami and is thus often called Asano Takumi no Kami. His reign was relatively short, succeeding his father as Daimyo at age 9 and committing seppuku in 1701 at age 26.
